Top Media Outreach works with writers who are more than observers; they’re investigators and storytellers. If you’re the type who reads a government tourism report for fun, who chats up a local historian for an hour, or who believes a journey’s real value is in the questions it raises, you’re our kind of contributor. We want your expertise, your curiosity, and your commitment to getting the story right.
What we’re Really Looking For
Forget “destination guides.” We build our editorial calendar around pieces that have a strong point of view and something new to say. Your pitch should answer a complex question or light a corner of the travel world that doesn’t get enough thoughtful attention.
Your Roadmap to a Successful Submission
We’re strict about these guidelines because they separate the professionals from the hobbyists. Following them is the first and most important test.
Rule 1: This Must Be Your Own, Brand New Work.
We publish original material, period. Your article cannot have appeared anywhere else, not on your blog, not in a newsletter, not on Medium. We use multiple tools to check for originality and plagiarism. Submitting the same pitch to several publications at once is a surefire way to get a quick “no” from us.
Rule 2: Craft a Manuscript That Holds Up to Scrutiny.
- Word Count: Go deep or go home. Aim for 1200 to 3,000 words. This isn’t about padding; it’s about giving a substantial idea the space it needs for scenes, data, interviews, and reflection.
- Voice and Authority: Write for a reader who is as knowledgeable as you are, or wants to be. Your tone should be engaging but never breezy.
You’re making a case. Support every significant claim. If you say a tourism model is failing, show us the numbers or quote the expert. If you describe a transformative moment, ground it in sensory detail that makes us feel we’re there.
- Reporting is Non-Negotiable: We expect rigorous fact-checking. Cite your sources. When you interview someone, tell us who they are (full name, title, relevance). Use primary sources: academic papers, official tourism data, and historical documents. For first-person narratives, your observations must be sharp and specific enough to serve as evidence.
- Technical Details: Send your draft as a Word document (.docx). Use a standard 12-point font and double-space the text. If you’re including photos (which we encourage for strong visual stories), do not embed them. List them separately with detailed, numbered captions that explain the who, what, where, and when.
Your bio is your handshake. In about 100 words, tell us your relevant background. What’s your expertise in this region or topic? Where else have you been published? What’s your current professional role? Include a link to your LinkedIn profile. You may add one link to a previous piece of writing that shows off your skills.
How Our Editorial Process Works (No Black Boxes)
We run a tight ship because we respect your time and craft. Here’s exactly what will happen.
Step 1: Send Us a Killer Pitch.
Email: editor@yashziqmedia.com
Write this in the subject line: Travel Pitch: [Your Query Title/Request Title]
In the body of your email, include:
1. The Title: Make it compelling.
2. The Pitch (The Core): In 400-600 words, convince us. What’s the central idea? Why does it matter right now? What’s your unique angle? How will you tell this story (narrative, reported feature, etc.)?
3. The Blueprint: 4-6 bullet points outlining the key sections or narrative beats.
Step 2: We Read and Respond.
Our editors review pitches every Tuesday. We give each one serious consideration. You will get a clear yes, no, or “revise and resubmit” within 7 business days. If it’s a “revision,” we’ll tell you exactly what needs adjustment to fit our needs.
Step 3: Write, Edit, and Refine.
A “yes” means we’re commissioning a full draft. We’ll agree on a deadline, usually 3-4 weeks out. When your draft arrives, we do a substantive edit. After the edits are done, the piece goes to a line editor for clarity and style.
Step 4: Launch and Amplify.
We’ll notify you of your publication date and send you the link. We promote it to our dedicated newsletter subscribers and across our social platforms. We expect you to share it proudly with your own network, it’s a partnership.
Ready to Pitch?
If you’ve read this far and have a story that fits, we are genuinely eager to hear from you. Craft your pitch with care. Make it undeniable.
Send it to: editor@yashziqmedia.com
We review submissions weekly and respond to every pitch that demonstrates effort and alignment. We can’t wait to see what you’ve got.
